Large atmosphere, open high ceiling, stainless steel everywhere type of place. Each table is equipped with their own cooking grill and ventilation. We got seated and it's the first time I've seen the free dishes already set up before us. Great for starving people who can't wait to eat. Our server initially gave a lot of good recommendations but he failed to mention one thing when I ordered the steamed eggs: It already comes with steamed eggs as you can see in my picture. Why did I have to spend another $7 for the same thing? Someone told me that one is fluffier...... Come on!! Sigh

Came on a Saturday afternoon with my siblings. It wasn't busy, so there wasn't a wait for a table to be ready. The host at the front was very hospitable and welcoming. As we were seated, the side dishes, salad, and stove with corn cheese and egg was ready to go. Very quick to get us started at first. The place wasn't too loud for lunch time, very clean and not too busy. My bro ordered the marinated and beef set. The servers cooked most of the meat on the stove, the bulgolgi and spicy pork was cooked in the kitchen. Everything was very delicious, having the servers cook for us did mean the pacing wasn't rushed and everyone got to eat. Glad they changed the stove frequently since the marinated meats tend to burn and smoke. I would love to give it a five star, however during our meal it took us a couple or more times to ask for sauce, side dishes, and water. A few servers were just standing or walking around whole we were waiting.

First off, let me start by mentioning to everyone that may be reading this comment, that I am not what you would consider a "typical Yelper." I honestly just like going to a restaurant, have an incredible experience, and then go about the rest of my day. Unfortunately, I consider this to have been many missed opportunities to acknowledge the very people the make our dining experience possible. In fact, I ONLY created this Yelp account because I felt it was my own duty to acknowledge someone at a local restaurant I frequent. The other night (Thursday night) my family and I decided to go out for dinner to celebrate my little nephew's birthday. We all decided on Baekjeong because it is in close proximity to where we live, and we have also been there many times before. As we arrived we were greeted by Sasha whom greeted us with much charisma and enthusiasm. He is literally always a pleasure to see at BKJ. However, the problem wasn't Sasha, but was instead another fellow customer that began to insult him behind his back (keep in mind my family and I were waiting in the lobby along with this disgruntled female customer). The female customer would continuously approach Sasha with a rude tone demanding that he give them a table right away, even though it was our turn first. When Sasha politely explained to the female customer that he had to seat people in the order they arrived she began to insult him behind his back (my sister and I both heard her call him out of name). We were so disgusted to see such a grown woman behave so poorly... over what? Having to wait in line for a table?... It honestly began to sour our experience at the restaurant. My mother and uncle even suggested we should just go eat somewhere else because we all felt uncomfortable with the way this woman was acting at a service worker. However, my sister and I began to get pissed, so we decided we weren't going anywhere lol. The female customer approached a staff member (I don't know his name but he was a tall Asian guy) and began to complain to him that they were still waiting for a table (again it was our turn first). The guy just said "I don't know, I'm sorry" and the female customer walked away. I saw Sasha frantically attempt to get their table ready as he was getting my own party's table ready as well and my heart honestly broke for him. It took a lot of self-control to not approach the woman. I told Sasha to take his time but he assured us the table would be ready soon. Sorry, I am aware this comment is long but it bears further commentary lol. Finally our table was ready (keep in mind that the female customer is still in the lobby, except now there was some other dude with her). As Sasha was getting ready to escort us to the table my sister heard the female customer use an inappropriate expletive directed at our host Sasha. When I tell you that if it wasn't for my baby-nephew and mother being present I would have cursed the lady out. At the end of the meal we sang happy birthday to my nephew at our table and Sasha was even nice enough to sing along :) That was cute. I know it wasn't much but we gave Sasha a birthday cookie to say thank you because he was just as sweet as the treat we gave him. Long story short, my family and I will still continue to visit the restaurant and dine there. But I also encourage other potential customers to be more nicer and understanding to the very people that help make our dining experience as good as it can be. I should really be giving this review one star because of that one customer but that wouldn't be fair to the restaurant. Especially all the hardworking people that make Baekjeong as great as it is.

Finally, I became the cool kid and had experienced eating at Baekjong! They just opened in the bay area and the waitlist for reservations is crazy long. We got here around 5ish, so we got a table right away! Though the restaurant was definitely quite busy already despite the early dining time. We opted for the beef & pork combo small and an order of galbi. I loved the concept of having them cook the food for you! Unlike most kbbq ayce where you usually have to cook the food yourself. The server was busy though and hard forbthem.to be attentive since they were cooking for 3-4 tables at a time! We loved the unlimited refills of side dishes including the corn cheese and eggs lol although we were not a fan of the eggs anyway. We did refill.lots of the corn cheese though lol. The meat was certainly good quality! Better be sinc ethe price tag was yikes! $168 was the tab that evening! Great meal though and even my picky little girl ate a lot!!!

Pros: excellent speedy service, they cook for you, quality meat. Cons: on the pricier side Been here a couple of times and we get consistently good service and quality of meat. We usually get the hodong combo. And it stuffs a family of 3. Highly recommended if you've never been here and want to try something different than an AYCE(all you can eat) bbq. The flow of the restaurant is very efficient. We come in and get seated to a table with ban Chan (Korean side dishes) already at the table. They take your order. The meats come out in under 5 minutes and immediately the servers start cooking your food. Servers are usually readily available with eye contact or a simple wave. So I don't have to shout (Jogiyo- over here!) so it's not as robust as a typical kbbq joint. With their service being so good it's hard to find time to chitchat. The server was constantly coming to our table to cook the meat and will let us know when it's ready. They grill it, cut it into bite sized pieces and done! Ready to eat. Meanwhile if we're low on ban Chan, we can ask him once he visits our table every 5 minutes. A caveat to that is, if you enjoy your meat cooked in a certain way, prepare to chat with the server. For instance my wife enjoys pork belly crispy so once we communicated that to the server he took care of it. Another meat that concerned me was the boneless short ribs in the hodong combo. When the server said it was ready, I noticed that there were some sides to the meat that haven't touched the grill yet. So I cooked it a little more. But overall it was still a very good laid back experience. A pitcher and empty cups are accompanied at your table so you can serve yourself water. I had a Coke which the server never let me go empty. He was always asking if I would like a refill. If I had one complaint. Their kimchi wasn't as good as other Korean places. It was nice and crunchy but It wasn't as savory and was more sour than I expected. We usually clean up the kimchi and ask for seconds but today we couldn't finish the first plate of kimchi. However the service and quality meat more than makes up for it. Can't wait to come again!

Great service! went for a late lunch/early dinner and there was no wait for a table. Got the small combo meat and was a lot for two people. Well worth the price and the entire staff was great.

I love coming to this place. It's always rather busy here so any time the wait is under 30 minutes it's a good day ! The resturaunt is typically on the loud side with meowsic playing and servers/gussets walking around nonstop. We were seated quickly and ordered a small beef and small pork and kimchi shake box for 4 people. I love the refillable egg and corn sides. We also ordered one of each soup to share. I love that they cook for you here so there isn't one person in your party that has to do all the work. This is my favorite alternative to ayce because sometimes I just don't feel like ayce. Honestly what we ordered felt like it anyway since we barely finished at the end. The quality of meat is better than a random sauce place as well. The pork jowl is a must !!!

I used to think AYCE KBBQ was the way to go, but as I'm getting older and no longer have the same appetite as my youthful self, KHD Baekjeong has now become my new go-to for KBBQ. Not only is the quality of the meal better, the service is better as they cook the meat for you, and any leftovers can be brought home. It's also not as smokey inside since the servers keep an eye on the grill. I usually go with the small beef combo which is a good portion for 2 small-medium eaters. I've also tried their recommended combo that comes with pork belly and marinated pork steak. I think I prefer the beef combo since I'm not a huge fan of pork belly (although it pairs really well with kimchi!). Besides the BBQ orders, I've also tried their doshirak (shaken rice with kimichi, fish cake, and egg) and their beef tartare. The doshirak is okay, but nothing special. The beef tartare was surprisingly good! The beef was icy and served with a runny egg yolk, sweet pear, and some arugula. This is a great appetizer to share with 3 or more people. Weekday wait is relatively short, but if you come on a weekend you may need to wait for a while!
